Pouring Funnels

Pouring funnels are devices used in casting processes to direct and control the flow of molten metal into the mold. They act as an entry channel, ensuring a steady and uniform flow of metal, reducing the risk of splashing, oxidation, and defects in the final piece. Pouring funnels are designed to withstand high temperatures and minimize turbulence, improving the quality of the final product and optimizing the efficiency of the casting process.

Characteristics

  • Made from high-temperature-resistant materials such as ceramic, graphite, refractory steel, or special alloys
  • Conical or truncated-cone shape designed to efficiently direct metal flow
  • Available in various sizes and diameters depending on the type of metal and casting process
  • Compatible with feeding systems, including gating channels and risers

Typical applications

  • Ferrous and non-ferrous metal casting
  • Turbulence reduction
  • Help direct the flow of molten metal, minimizing agitation to prevent oxide formation and air entrapment
  • Pouring speed control
  • Regulate the molten metal flow into the mold, preventing overflow or improper filling
  • Sand and permanent molding
  • Used in sand, shell, ceramic, or permanent metal mold casting techniques
  • Prevention of splashes and defects in the final piece
  • Ensure uniform and safe filling, preventing defects such as porosity or inclusions
