Die-cut mica parts

Mica is a mineral that belongs to a large group of silicates composed of alumina, iron, calcium, magnesium, and alkali minerals, characterized by its easy exfoliation into thin, flexible, elastic, and highly shiny sheets.

The flexibility, elasticity, and thermal resistance properties of mica make it an attractive material for the industry due to its performance as both a thermal and electrical insulator.

Characteristics

The parts are made from mica paper (either moscovite or phlogopite quality) agglomerated with a resin that has excellent thermal and electrical properties. The material is subjected to pressure and heat for curing.

We supply all types of parts according to customer needs (based on drawings or samples), both die-cut and machined.

Typical applications

Mica is an excellent material for use as a resistor support in the domestic sector, hair dryers, toasters, etc., as well as for all types of electrical applications, especially those that must withstand high temperatures while maintaining their mechanical and electrical properties. It is also used in applications where the insulator must adopt specific shapes, requiring high thermal and dielectric properties as well as flexural strength: hot air fans, circuit breakers, transformers, etc. It is used as a coating or protection, and also as a separator or as an insulating sheet. Some applications take advantage of its spring action.

Typically, the muscovite grade is used in applications requiring greater mechanical strength, and the phlogopite grade is used where greater thermal resistance is required.
