Mica Spool and Mica Tape

Mica is a mineral that belongs to an extensive group of aluminosilicates containing iron, calcium, magnesium, and alkaline minerals, characterized by its easy exfoliation into thin, flexible, elastic, and highly glossy sheets.

The flexibility, elasticity, and thermal resistance of mica make it an attractive material for industrial use due to its properties as a thermal and electrical insulator.

Mica tapes are composed of mica paper (muscovite or phlogopite quality) and fiberglass cloth or polyester film.

Characteristics

Mica tapes are typically available in two formats: rolls and spools:
• Thickness range: 0.08 to 0.15 mm
• Width range: 4 to 1000 mm

Typical applications

Primarily used in the manufacture of fire-resistant cables and the winding of electric motors, as well as in situations where good electrical insulation is necessary.
